Saving hearts one recipe at a time
Why a blog, and why put my story out there? And who am I to call myself the "Queen of Hearts? Well, because I am the Queen of my own heart, and that is good enough for me. On July 2006 at the age of 33, I suffered a stroke right after teaching a fitness class. Doctors found out this was due to a previously undiagnosed hole in my heart. After countless doctors appointments, weeks of uncertainty, and a lot of decision making, I underwent open-heart surgery in December 2006. The experience inspired me to think about life and living it differently... There were no resources for me to stumble upon during my ordeal, so if I my story can help to provide a perspective, insight, or the smallest smile or bit of understanding, then it is all worth it...and this is reflected here.
Then there is the cooking... I cannot help it, I love and it and it is a passion (and has been since I could talk). I decided to add another part to this blog that would hopefully instill my passion for cooking and stories around it for everyone else.
